Freckle-fly

So I have been rather busy lately making my friend's wedding cake. I'd never made a wedding cake before but it turned out great. It was three tiers and had gum paste flowers. I even made a personalized cake topper! As a thank you gift my friend decided to buy me a gift... a new lens. I am now the proud owner of my very first macro lens!!! Once I got over the initial shock of the gift I was over joyed. I celebrated tonight by trying it out. It turns out a macro lens does not make you a macro photographer :p It will be a long journey to improve but a journey I am excited to embark on. Can't wait to get more practice and learn lots!!

Lately I seem to be in perhaps a rut, maybe it's a plateau. My photography does not seem to be progressing. I am still practicing but I find I am getting frustrated. I think perhaps I need to take some lessons. Or figure out what I need to fix!! I'm enjoying my photos but they always seem to be missing something. That wow factor. I have been toying with the idea of getting light room or photo shop but I am worried that perhaps buying some editing tools would be compensated for my lack of skill. My family and I are off to England and Ireland for 3 weeks so I won't be posting much for a while. I will have tons of pictures when I get back though!!
